Ep. 17: Miaka encounters Chiriko in Hakkou village while Yui confesses to Tamahome in Kutou.
Five days after finding Mitsukake, Miaka and her Warriors search for the final Suzaku Warrior. A mysterious flute song, audible only to Miaka, leads them to Hakkou village, Tamahome's hometown. Mitsukake heals Tamahome's father, and the group stays at Tamahome's home. While in Kutou, Yui attends to the comatose Tamahome, confessing her feelings and urging him to forget Miaka, though she stops short of physical advance. Back in Hakkou, Miaka is attacked by bats after hearing the flute song again. Hotohori and Tasuki attempt to help but are devoured. The flute player, revealed to be Chiriko, the final Suzaku Warrior, kills the bats and a Kutou spy. The group returns to Konan, where Chichiri and Tasuki welcome them. Mitsukake and Chiriko learn Hotohori is the emperor. To reach Tamahome, who remains in Kutou, Chichiri provides a spell connecting Konan to Kutou, allowing Miaka to speak to him.
