Ep. 20: Chichiri Disguised as Nakago, Tamahome's Betrayal, and the Escape from Kutou Palace

Chichiri, impersonating Nakago, is exposed by the real Nakago and rushes to Tasuki to find Miaka. Miaka reunites with Tamahome under a tree, where he feigns kindness while secretly plotting to kill her and the other Suzaku Warriors. When Miaka presents a letter from Konan, Tamahome destroys it, causing her distress. Tasuki and Chichiri intervene, leading to a battle between Tamahome and Tasuki. Nakago and Yui observe, revealing that a pill given to Tamahome alters memories and personality. With help from Hotohori, Nuriko, Mitsukake, Chiriko, and his flute, Chichiri uses Tama to break the Seiryuu barrier. The group escapes the Kutou palace, and a tearful Miaka says goodbye to Tamahome, who sheds tears once they are gone.
