Koga faces a long-range assault from Renkotsu and Ginkotsu. Meanwhile, Sango and Miroku enter the Mount Hakurei barrier to scout, though Miroku finds it difficult to control his lecherous behavior around Sango. The brothers are drawn out of the barrier after Koga endures cannon fire and flamethrower attacks, allowing him to gain the advantage. He injures Renkotsu and tries to extract a Shikon Jewel shard from his throat. Ginkotsu destroys the surroundings, sending his own shard to Renkotsu. Inuyasha detects the resulting explosion and travels to Koga, who has suffered severe leg injuries.
