After recovering from his battle with Koga, Renkotsu vows to avenge Ginkotsu’s destruction and readies his artillery for an assault. Inuyasha had previously carried the unconscious Koga to a cave near a waterfall for recovery, a situation that displeases Koga. Renkotsu distracts Inuyasha using the Saimyoushou and ignites the waterfall into flames before launching ammunition attacks. Upon entering the cave, Renkotsu threatens to detonate incendiary devices to retrieve Koga's Shikon Jewel shards. Inuyasha retaliates by forcing Renkotsu into the river of flames, triggering a massive eruption. Both combatants surprisingly survive the catastrophic event.
