Sesshomaru is trapped in a mountain barrier and forced to fight Jakotsu. He successfully impales both Jakotsu and Suikotsu with his sword, yet they survive because tainted Shikon Jewel shards are lodged in their throats. Kikyo arrives to interrupt the conflict and uses a Sacred Arrow to purify Suikotsu’s shard. Freed from his evil influence, Suikotsu explains that his dark persona emerged after he killed someone with his own hands. Following Kikyo’s request, Jakotsu takes Suikotsu’s purified Shikon Jewel shard, ending the immediate threat posed by the corrupted fragments.
