After witnessing a sacred arrow, doubts arise about Kikyo's death. She rescues villagers from Princess Abi and phoenix demons. Inuyasha and his group follow Saint Hijiri to verify her identity. Kaede discovers Kochou and Asuka, soul collectors, at Kikyo's grave. The group travels to the Forbidden Mountain but faces Naraku's demons. Inuyasha sees a vision of Kikyo before she vanishes. Kagome crosses a barrier and finds Kikyo unconscious and fatally wounded in a waterfall.
