Naraku commands Kohaku to seize The Infant and eliminate all others, which he executes. Kanna arrives to collect the noblewoman's soul and takes The Infant. Princess Abi escapes to gather more human blood. Kohaku regains his memories upon seeing Sango, aided in his flight by Kagura, who remains unaware of his awakening. He tries to commit suicide but decides to kill Naraku for redemption when Kagura intervenes. Sango identifies The Infant as the link between Naraku and the castle, while Kagura realizes it is the heart of Hakudoshi. Miroku embraces Sango as she worries about Kohaku's control by Naraku.
