Inuyasha and his companions chase Naraku into the Netherworld, arriving at the grave of Inu no Taisho. Inuyasha experiences hallucinations of a childhood demon attack. The deceased Hosenki launches adamant spears at the group from the grave, where the last shard of the Shikon Jewel is located. Hosenki warns that many shards have become tainted and insists no one must obtain the final shard, fearing it is also corrupted. Driven by the presence of tainted shards nearby, Hosenki becomes corrupted by the last shard. He brutally attacks Inuyasha, causing the protagonist to plummet into the abyss.
