Kagura offers Sesshomaru an alternative route to the Netherworld to confront Gozu and Mezu. Hosenki has been weakened from fighting Inuyasha, allowing Naraku to arrive and attempt to seize the final Shikon Jewel shard. Inuyasha, having survived a fall, returns to battle Naraku but fails to break his barrier with Tetsusaiga. Meanwhile, Sesshomaru utilizes Tenseiga to pass through the gate into the Netherworld. Naraku warns Inuyasha and his companions that their entry into the Netherworld will not serve as their exit, creating a tense standoff between the brothers and the antagonist.
