Inuyasha departs to locate Kikyo, but Kagome encounters the shrine maiden first and strives to explain the actual events surrounding Kikyo's demise. Upon finally meeting Kikyo, she embraces him while weeping. Despite no longer caring about the manner of her death, Kikyo remains unable to overcome her hatred for Inuyasha and attempts to drag him to the underworld to die with her. Inuyasha manages to break free from Kikyo's grasp by listening to Kagome's voice. Subsequently, Kikyo visits Kaede to verify Naraku's intentions and aspirations.
