1EP 1Togame recruits Shichika to hunt for the twelve legendary swords of Japan.
Jan 26, 2010Strategist Togame arrives on an island to locate the exiled head of the Yasuri family. She meets the current head, Yasuri Shichika, and his sister Nanami. Togame reveals her quest to find the twelve most powerful swords in Japan, crafted by Shikizaki Kiki, and requests Shichika's assistance. Shichika initially refuses, having no reason to help. Togame then commands him to fall in love with her, providing the necessary motivation for his cooperation. Their interaction is interrupted by an attack from a ninja of the Maniwa Ninja Corps wielding one of the twelve swords, Zettou Kanna. Shichika defeats the attacker and agrees to aid Togame. The pair then begins their journey across Japan to locate the remaining blades.
2EP 2Togame and Shichika seek the Namakura sword from Uneri Ginkaku in Inaba.
Feb 9, 2010After a month of traveling, Togame and Shichika arrive in Inaba, where they believe the next sword, Zantou Namakura, is located. They discover the current owner, Uneri Ginkaku, confined to a small room in his home, which is surrounded by ever-growing sand. Having lost everything else, Ginkaku possesses only the sword and his residence. Initial negotiations fail, and the pair retreat after observing Ginkaku’s challenging speed. Following deliberation, they return to confront him. Shichika engages Ginkaku in combat and ultimately defeats him, securing the second sword for their collection. This victory allows them to continue their journey with the newly acquired weapon, Namakura, the Decapitation Sword.
3EP 3Shichika fights Tsuruga Meisai at Sanzu shrine to claim the third sword
Mar 9, 2010During their third month of travel, the pair arrive at Sanzu shrine, where ex-bandit master Tsuruga Meisai guards the third sword, Sentou Tsurugi, and shrine maidens holding its thousand blades. Togame must identify the original sword before Shichika battles Meisai. While Togame searches for days, Shichika bonds with Meisai and learns of her struggles. A Maniwa Corps ninja attempts to cause trouble but is swiftly killed by Meisai. The following day, Togame presents Meisai with the oldest sword she identified. Meisai agrees to the duel, which concludes with Meisai’s death and Togame securing the third sword.
4EP 4Shichika duels the formidable Sabi Hakuhei while Nanami defends against Maniwa Ninja attackers.
Apr 17, 2010In the fourth month, Togame and Shichika meet Sabi Hakuhei, a top Japanese swordsman who demands a duel for their blades. Shichika finds this opponent significantly stronger than previous foes. Simultaneously, Nanami is targeted by a Maniwa Ninja squad attempting kidnapping. The attackers realize Nanami possesses greater strength than Shichika, despite him being the family head. She swiftly neutralizes the ninjas. Concurrently, Shichika overcomes Sabi Hakuhei, securing their fourth sword, Hakutou Hari. This victory establishes the siblings' combined power against external threats while highlighting Nanami's hidden combat prowess compared to her brother's established reputation. The events demonstrate the escalating danger from ninja factions and the growing capability of the Yasuri siblings to protect themselves and their collection of swords through direct confrontation and superior skill.
5EP 5Shichika defeats pirate Azekura Kanara who covets Togame and wields the sword Zokutou Yoroi.
May 21, 2010In their fifth month, the pair encounter Azekura Kanara, a pirate ruling the port of Satsuma who holds Zokutou Yoroi, one of the 12 swords. Believing Togame resembles his late sister, he proposes a contest where victory grants him Togame as his woman. The duel intensifies as Kanara declares his affection, transforming the conflict beyond a mere struggle for the blade. Shichika identifies the sword's weakness and strikes Kanara down, compelling his surrender. Although spared due to being among the few survivors of Shichika's combat, Kanara acts with malice by altering the ship's route, thereby changing the travelers' path to their next destination.
6EP 6Togame and Shichika meet Itezora Konayuki, who guards the sixth sword Kanazuchi in Ezo.
Jun 5, 2010Shivering in the Ezo region, Togame and Shichika are discovered by 11 year-old Itezora Konayuki, the sole survivor of her clan. She shelters them and reveals the sixth sword, Kanazuchi, adhering to her clan’s rule that it must not be surrendered unless the wielder is defeated in combat. Shichika’s initial spar results in a broken arm, marking Konayuki as the first person to defeat him. During his recovery, the vengeful Maniwa Kyouken possesses Konayuki, revealing that Nanami annihilated her clan. Shichika overcomes Kyouken’s spirit in battle, leaving Konayuki unconscious. Upon waking, Konayuki apologizes for her deception and relinquishes the sword, promising to transport Kanazuchi to the mainland before residing at the Sanzu shrine.
7EP 7Nanami seeks the Akutou Bita sword and confronts Shichika on the island.
Jul 10, 2010Nanami grows frustrated with her brother’s slow progress and leaves the island to collect the swords herself. She destroys the Itezora clan using methods far more violent and destructive than those of Togame and Shichika. Upon obtaining one of the 12 swords, Akutou Bita, she pierces her chest with it to strengthen her frail body. Shichika encounters his sister and fights what becomes his most deadly opponent. Nanami asks him to kill her to end the suffering caused by Bita’s power. After battling Nanami’s all-seeing eyes and inhuman strength, and facing the threat to Togame’s life, Shichika finally frees his sister from Bita by killing her.
8EP 8Shichika and Togame seek a robotic sword in an abandoned lake.
Aug 14, 2010In an abandoned lake, the duo locate the next sword, which operates as a robot. Togame collects data and tries to capture the machine using various traps, but every attempt fails. Shichika engages the robot in combat, yet it effortlessly blocks and dodges his strikes, surprising him with its unpredictable attack patterns. As the robot’s energy depletes, it leaps into the air. Shichika intercepts it mid-flight, securing the capture. He subsequently sends the doll to Princess Hitei.
9EP 9Shichika trains in kendo while Togame schemes to help him defeat Zanki in a rematch.
Sep 11, 2010Togame and Shichika encounter Kiguchi Zanki, the owner of a dojo and wielder of the ninth sword, Outou Nokogiri. After Shichika loses their initial duel, Zanki agrees to teach him kendo, though Shichika’s inherited inability to wield swords results in clumsiness and accidental intimate situations that make Togame jealous. Concurrently, Princess Hitei’s servant Souda Emonzaemon assassinates Maniwa Umigame, a member of the Maniwa Ninja Corps. Shichika and Zanki duel again, with Shichika remaining unskilled. Togame employs a new strategy, distracting Zanki with shogi moves during the fight, which allows Shichika to secure victory in the match.
10EP 10Shichika and Togame confront illusions while seeking the sword Hakari in Oushuu.
Oct 16, 2010In Oushuu, Higaki Rinne appears to Shichika as a girl and to Togame as her murdered father. Rinne reveals the next sword, Seitou Hakari, lies thirty meters underground. Togame digs until she faints, prompting Shichika to question her motives before entering Rinne’s illusion. Both characters face suppressed memories while Maniwa Ninja Houou and Pengin travel to Oushuu, anticipating Emonzaemon’s pursuit. Emonzaemon receives orders from Princess Hitei to uncover Togame’s true identity. During a battle, Rinne’s defensive questions cause Shichika to realize his fighting purpose is Togame. He returns to her, waking her from exhaustion. Togame understands Rinne’s intent and receives her father’s final words. Rinne then reveals that Kyotoryu is Shikizaki Kiki’s ultimate technique. The group departs for Owari with Hakari but encounters a critically injured Maniwa Pengin, who begs them to save Houou.
11EP 11Shichika and Togame confront the possessed Houou while Emonzaemon hunts Pengin with the final sword.
Nov 13, 2010Flashbacks reveal Shikizaki Kiki’s past with Yasuri Kazune during the Sengoku period. In the present, Princess Hitei discovers Togame’s true identity, increasing her motive to eliminate her. Meanwhile, Houou battles Emonzaemon while Pengin observes, holding the 11th sword, Dokutou Mekki. Fearing defeat, Pengin throws the sword to Houou, granting him power but also driving him insane, causing him to injure Pengin. Bleeding on a road, Houou is found by Togame and Shichika, who identify the poison and pursue him. Pengin wakes from a nightmare, only to be confronted by Emonzaemon wielding the last sword, Entou Juu. Despite Pengin’s abilities countering the bullets initially, Emonzaemon fatally shoots him. Shichika, Togame, and the possessed Houou meet in an abandoned village, where Shichika quickly defeats Houou after he is taken over by Shikizaki’s spirit. Continuing to Owari, the pair discuss Pengin’s supposed leadership, unaware of his death. Upon arrival, Emonzaemon reveals he knows Togame’s identity and shoots her with Entou Juu.
12EP 12Shichika kills guards and the Shogun after Togame dies, while Hitei is revealed as Kiki’s descendant.
Dec 11, 2010Togame dies in Shichika’s arms, expressing joy at not having to kill him and ordering him to forget her. Shichika is left grieving as night falls. Princess Hitei, revealed as Shikizaki Kiki’s descendant, warns the Shogun of a thousand-year fall before an intruder enters the castle. Shichika breaches the main gate, swiftly eliminating guards and breaking their weapons. The Shogun dispatches his best men and Emonzaemon, who wields Kiki’s swords, to stop him. Shichika systematically defeats every opponent on each floor, destroying their swords and leaving no survivors, including Emonzaemon. Upon reaching the final room, Shichika questions Hitei about her feelings for Togame. Finding she did not dislike her, Shichika spares Hitei and executes the Shogun, who ordered the suicidal sword collection, using Togame’s favorite phrase.
