Students are disturbed by Makio Shiina’s claim of seeing a ghost outside his window. Hostel manager Tenzo Tsukahara stops them from checking on Morimura. The next morning, Morimura is missing. Shiina fears he is the next victim of Kuniaki Ebisawa’s spirit, citing a will-o'-the-wisp sighting. Kentaro Kato reveals that he, Morimura, and Shiina bullied Ebisawa, leading to his suicide attempt and coma at Otemon Hospital. Hajime attempts to alert Kenmochi, but Yozo Kawasaki halts the conversation and orders the students to attend their lessons. Later, the group discovers Morimura’s body but cannot contact authorities because the telephone equipment has been destroyed. That afternoon, Makio Shiina vanishes, and Hajime finds his body hanging in the rafters of a nearby church.
