Ep. 3: Kiyo’s Departure from Aomori and Her First Day as a Maiko in Kyoto

Approximately one year prior to the main events, Kiyo prepares for her evening departure to Kyoto alongside Sumire while staying with her grandmother in Aomori Prefecture. The group shares childhood memories and enjoys a local specialty dish before boarding the night bus, where Sumire notices Kiyo’s packed belongings. Upon arriving in Kyoto, Kiyo struggles with concentration during maiko training and is dismissed. However, when the resident cook falls ill, Kiyo steps in to prepare a meal for Tsurukoma and her fellow maiko, thereby officially beginning her career at the maiko house.
