Kaitou Kid recalls a past encounter with Shinichi Kudo before attempting to steal the Black Star gem from the Suzuki Corporation. Meanwhile, Kogoro Mori travels to an isolated mansion in Shizuoka Prefecture for a detective meeting funded by an unknown sender. Six other detectives join him, but they become trapped when the bridge is destroyed and vehicles burned. As the group suffers attacks and deaths, Conan Edogama secretly contacts Detective Senma via surveillance, posing as a seventh participant. He reveals the truth behind the current murders and a massacre from forty years ago. The narrative concludes with a dramatic escape where Kogoro Mori jumps from a helicopter, exposing himself as the Phantom Thief Kid.
