Conan identifies the accomplice as gum-chewing passenger Miharu Tomino. Armed hijackers force Araide and Akai Shuichi into ski gear, using Tomino as a hostage to exit the bus with bomb-filled ski bags. The Junior Detective League alerts the driver to brake suddenly, allowing Conan to arrest the criminals. Tomino accidentally triggers the bombs, leaving only minutes before detonation. While other passengers evacuate, Haibara stays behind to sacrifice herself and protect others from the Black Organization. Conan returns, breaks the rear window with a fire extinguisher, and saves Haibara just in time. He sends Takagi to take her to the hospital for safety. Meanwhile, Akai reports to an unknown contact that his target has not appeared.
