Ikari and Maniwa interrogate an elderly witness regarding the incident involving Tsukiko. After Ikari expresses frustration at her vague answers, she reveals that no one was present when Tsukiko was allegedly attacked. The detectives then confront Tsukiko with evidence of a bent pipe found nearby, which she used to harm herself, causing her to faint. Simultaneously, a runaway teenager named Taeko wanders through a stormy city seeking to escape her past. Her father, policeman Masami Hirukawa, built her a new home. Inside, Taeko finds security camera photos of herself undressing in the computer's recycle bin. Disturbed, she destroys furniture and locates a hidden camera behind a bookshelf. Overcome with despair during the storm, she is knocked unconscious by Lil' Slugger. She awakens in a hospital with her father present, but immediately asks, "Who are you?"
