Ep. 28: Howard trades a stolen component to escapees who betray him, prompting a rescue plan by the children.
Howard steals a gyrostabilizer from ruins to bargain with three escapees for his rescue and a reward. The escapees agree to take only one person, so Howard accepts, planning to send help later. However, once they receive the item, they turn on him, intending to kill him. They realize Howard took the wrong component just in time. Kaoru negotiates a radio exchange: the real gyrostabilizer for Howard. Kaoru initially attempts the risky solo exchange, but Luna persuades him to cooperate. Knowing the escapees will kill them upon opportunity, the children devise a plan to rescue Howard and escape safely. At dawn, Kaoru, Bell, Luna, and Menori move into position to execute the strategy. Adam, refusing to be left behind, chases after them to join the operation.
