Mireille and Kirika seek the Langonel Manuscript linked to Les Soldats, consulting an expert who confirms a third copy exists after two were burned in war. They locate multimillionaire Casper Edlinger, only to find his copy destroyed in a fire. Chloe then appears, reciting from the manuscript and clarifying the meaning of "Noir." The trio is ambushed by low-ranking Les Soldats members but defeats them easily. Chloe reveals to Kirika that she was raised as an assassin. She attempts a ritual with Kirika, but Mireille intervenes to stop the act, ending their immediate encounter.
