Yamaoka and Kurita participate in a "Battle of Taste" television quiz against representatives from Teito News, Sports Times, and Shina Economics. Although Yamaoka is initially unenthusiastic and their team, Touzai, is in last place, he demonstrates extensive culinary knowledge to secure victory. He challenges the contestants by claiming the presented karasumi was harvested out of season and promises to create a superior product within a week. Yamaoka travels to Nagai Port in Kanagawa to source fresh surumeika, extracting and salting the livers. Upon presenting his dish a week later, the host and competitors praise the excellent flavor, leading them to reconsider their views on gourmet cuisine. The episode concludes with Kurita’s anger when Yamaoka reveals he exchanged their prize, two tickets to Europe, for cash.
