Ep. 20: Reiji and Mio’s date reveals Mio’s Yakuza heritage and Inferno’s pursuit

Two years after escaping America, Reiji and Eren live quietly in a Japanese town. Reiji agrees to a date with classmate Mio Fujieda after she confesses her feelings. During the outing, they encounter a biker who performs a harmless sneak attack. Later, Reiji visits Eren at a church, where she reveals that Inferno has located them. Eren explains that Mio’s true surname is Godo, linking her to the Yakuza Godo Clan as Daisuke’s half-sister. Because the Godo Clan is significant to Inferno and its new leader Shiga, Mio is a strategic asset. Eren plans to befriend Mio for leverage and urges Reiji to do the same. Reiji is saddened by the return of danger, while Eren notes his happiness stems from forgetting a painful memory. The next day, Reiji meets the biker again, who plays a familiar tune on a pocket watch. He recognizes the melody before she reveals herself as Cal Devens.
