Murdoch captures Licht but returns his sword, explaining his iron weapons are unbreakable due to his convictions. He traps Licht, accusing him of being a former soldier, and intends to torture him when Licht remains silent. Lynn intervenes to protect Licht and is injured, prompting Murdoch to berate her for prioritizing charity over justice. Licht breaks free, revealing his iron resistance, and demands an apology for insulting Lynn’s work ethic. Their battle destroys a cliff, causing Lynn to fall. Murdoch attempts to catch her, but Licht does so first, insulting her to lower his count to negative 1001. Licht allows Murdoch to escape, who then creates a play area for village children. Murdoch grants Licht a three-day head start before resuming the hunt with Lynn. While fixing a doll, Murdoch’s count drops from 12500 to 12499 for abandoning his conviction.
