Ash and Iris travel toward Striaton City Gym, stopping at Accumula Town to visit the Battle Club run by Don George. After observing a match between a Servine and a Dewott, Ash challenges the Dewott's owner. A security incident interrupts the event, prompting Ash to review footage where he mistakes a dark Pokémon silhouette for an Umbreon. He instead discovers an abandoned Tepig with a rope around its mouth. Simultaneously, Team Rocket infiltrates the facility's storage area with the intent to capture Pikachu.
