Ep. 9: Mikado threatens to kiss Akane, while Ryoga accidentally swaps partners with Ranma during the match.

Mikado announces his intention to kiss Akane during the upcoming bout, causing Ranma significant distress and prompting him to warn Akane to avoid Mikado. As the match commences, Ranma and Akane successfully defend against the Golden Pair, including their signature "Couple Break-Up Spin" technique. Ryoga, previously chained to the trophy in pig form, reverts to human shape. Attempting to eliminate Ranma and ally with Akane, Ryoga uses his curse to transform Ranma after dimming the lights, but the spell inadvertently sends Akane into the audience, leaving Ryoga paired with Ranma. The renewed contest sees Ryoga and Ranma struggle against Mikado and Azuza due to their mutual animosity. Provoked by Ranma's taunts regarding his desire to impress Akane, Ryoga destroys the ice rink, shattering it into separate icebergs.
