Ronja remains stuck while Rumphobs use her foot to rock a baby cradle. A harpy attempts to capture her as a slave but fails to fly away, promising to return with sisters. Despairing, Ronja accepts her fate until Birk finds her, scolding her for losing her ski. Overcome with relief, she clings to him and begs him not to leave. Birk jokes about the distance before freeing her foot. He escorts her home, where she asks him to be her brother. He agrees, calling her his sister. The next morning, the Mattis Robbers are trapped by snow, and Ronja wakes with a fever, collapsing on the floor.
