The Festum anticipates Kazuki's movements, but he is provided with a rail gun at the last moment to defeat the enemy. Afterward, many children remain unaware of their parents' involvement in previous alien invasions. Soushi discloses to Kazuki that Japan was destroyed twenty-nine years ago. Upon returning home, Kazuki informs his father, Fumihiko Makabe, of his decision to become a pilot. During his first training session, Kazuki tries on a synergetic suit for the first time.
