Apr 6, 2005Professor Banner, Jaden, Syrus, Chumley, and Alexis visit ancient ruins atop a volcano. Banner’s cat, Pharaoh, discovers a glowing object, causing three suns to appear in the sky. The light strikes the group, and Jaden loses consciousness. He wakes up inside a giant pyramid with Winged Kuriboh. A mysterious girl warns him that the location is a sacred tomb and he is intruding. Tomb guards surround Jaden, and their leader issues a challenge. Jaden must win a duel to escape with his friends. The situation forces him into a high-stakes confrontation within the ancient structure to ensure the safety of the group.

Apr 13, 2005Jaden faces significant difficulties because the Gravekeeper's Necrovalley card prevents him from tributing monsters by sending them to the graveyard. He counters this strategy by utilizing Elemental Hero Necroshade to summon Blade-Edge without requiring a tribute. This tactical move allows Jaden to secure victory in the duel. Following his defeat, the Gravekeeper hands Jaden half of a mysterious amulet. Subsequently, the spirits of Winged Kuriboh and Des Koala assist Jaden and his friends in returning to their own world.

Apr 20, 2005Chancellor Sheppard summons Jaden, Chazz, Bastion, Zane, Alexis, Banner, and Crowler to his office to reveal the existence of the Sacred Beasts sealed beneath Duel Academy. He warns that the Seven Shadow Riders intend to unseal these powerful cards and distributes seven Spirit Keys to the students for protection. These keys only function when won from their guardians through duels. Shortly after, the first Shadow Rider, Nightshroud, appears and challenges Jaden to a duel. The stakes are severe: Jaden must win to save the lives of Syrus and Chumley, or face the consequence of having his soul sealed inside a card if he loses.

When his mask is removed, his true identity is revealed to be Atticus Rhodes, Alexis' lost brother. Atticus had previously disappeared in the abandoned dorm and was subsequently possessed by the evil spirit known as Nightshroud.

May 4, 2005While Jaden recovers from his previous match against Nightshroud, Professor Crowler faces the second Shadow Rider, a vampiress named Camula. During the duel, Camula’s Immortal Werewolf rapidly depletes Crowler’s Life Points to zero, resulting in his soul being trapped inside a toy doll. Witnessing this outcome, both Jaden and Zane become furious. Motivated by anger and concern for their instructor, the two students decide to take action. They set out with the specific goal of defeating Camula in order to rescue Crowler and restore him to his original form.

May 11, 2005During a duel against Camula, Zane is forced to make a difficult decision when she activates the dark spell card Illusion Gate. This card carries a severe penalty: if the owner loses, they forfeit their soul. Camula offers Syrus' soul as an alternative, prompting Zane to throw the match to protect his brother. Consequently, Zane's soul is sealed into a doll, similar to Crowler's situation, but Camula retains possession of it. He successfully defeats Camula, resulting in her soul being consumed by the Illusion Gate. Consequently, Zane and Crowler are restored to their normal states, resolving the immediate crisis through Jaden's victory.

May 25, 2005Anxious about upcoming Shadow Rider duels, Jaden attempts to unwind at the Academy Hot Springs alongside Syrus, Chazz, and Chumley. The spirits of Winged Kuriboh, Ojama Yellow, and Des Koala emerge, pulling the group into the spirit world where duel monster spirits reside. There, they encounter Kaibaman, a spirit possessing the voice, form, and deck of Seto Kaiba. He challenges Jaden to a duel intended to restore Jaden's fighting spirit. Although Jaden fights bravely, he is defeated in the match. However, the experience successfully restores his confidence, preparing him for the remaining Shadow Riders. Following this encounter, Jaden and his friends are transported back to their own world.

Subsequently, the Dark Scorpions choose to join Chazz, residing in his room alongside the Ojamas and other monster spirits, which greatly annoys Chazz.

Jul 6, 2005Jaden is challenged by Abidos, the fifth Shadow Rider. According to Professor Banner, Abidos was a legendary pharaoh who never lost a duel. As they duel for the spirit keys, Jaden discovers that Abidos isn't as strong as he seems, which makes Abidos come to the realization that his servants let him win out of fear of his power. Jaden defeated him using his H-E-R-O Flash combo and promised to maybe duel Abidos again someday.

She is pulled into a mysterious dark realm and duels Titan, who has become the sixth Shadow Rider following his battle with Jaden. Although Titan’s darkness monsters initially overwhelm her, Alexis manages to defeat him. Following this victory, she is transported back to the Shadow Realm. Meanwhile, Atticus regains his memory and recalls that Professor Banner was the one who invited him to the dorm in the first place.

After the duel, he uses their power to make himself younger.
