Emperor Pilaf obtains the Black Star Dragon Balls, which are said to be more powerful than the regular ones. Before he can use them to take over the world, Gokuu Son interrupts him. Pilaf's wish goes wrong, reverting Gokuu to childhood. The Dragon Balls then disperse across the galaxy. Gokuu learns that Earth will be destroyed unless all the balls are recovered within a year. He teams up with Pan and Trunks to search the universe for the Dragon Balls and prevent the planet's destruction.
