Detective Yokoda is killed by criminals, and his body is recovered by Professor Tani, who takes it to his lab. Tani attempts an experiment that has previously failed seven times: transferring a person's life force into an android body. Yokoda becomes the eighth subject, and the experiment finally works. He is revived as an android with a metal exterior, capable of incredible speed and the ability to transform into others. He assumes the identity of "Hachiro Azuma," a form that resembles his former self. Only Tani and Chief Tanaka are aware of his true nature. His girlfriend and friend remain unaware of his transformation. In this new form, he continues to combat crime, including those responsible for his death.
