Eliza challenges Sister Grey regarding Terry’s departure, resulting in a week of confinement for her insolence. Bullies target Candy, believing Terry is gone, but she acknowledges her love for him and Eliza’s jealousy. Duke Grandchester threatens to withdraw funding due to Terry’s absence, yet Candy’s explanation of his loneliness and her respect for him convinces him to maintain support and enroll Terry’s sisters. Simultaneously, Louise must leave because her father cannot afford tuition. Candy intervenes to reduce Eliza’s punishment, allowing Louise time with her friend. Finally, Candy departs with Klint on a new journey, rejecting the prospect of becoming a deceitful lady.
