A mysterious Red Man attacks, killing everyone except Ganta, who has a red stone embedded in his chest. Framed for the massacre with fabricated evidence, Ganta receives a death sentence and is transferred to the facility. While officials conspire to eliminate him, he encounters Shiro, a white-haired girl who understands him. When bullies assault them, a falling object threatens their lives. Ganta’s intense desire to live and avenge his class awakens his dormant abilities, allowing him to manipulate his blood to protect both himself and Shiro from the impending danger.

Apr 24, 2011Ganta learns from inmate Yoh Takami that cast points are required for decent meals and to purchase "candy," the antidote for a poison secretly stolen from his bag. He and Shiro decide to enter a high-stakes dog race to win the prize money needed for survival. In the locker room, they face intimidation from inmate Kazumasa Kouzuji, who is silenced by Warden Makina. The race course is filled with lethal traps, but Ganta and Shiro advance to the final stage against Kazumasa. There, they must hold onto a ball while avoiding a spike pit. Ganta confronts Kazumasa, causing him to fall to his death. In the final moments, Ganta sacrifices the ball and the prize money to prevent Shiro from falling, honoring their promise to share the runner-up prize.
EP 3Ganta and Yoh navigate prison lockdown while pursuing the escaped Wretched Egg.
May 1, 2011Promoter Tsunenaga Tamaki assigns Yoh to monitor Ganta, who receives a life-saving candy that creates a debt. The Wretched Egg, formerly the Red Man, escapes and confronts Ganta, who attempts to fight back using his abilities before losing consciousness. Upon waking, Ganta learns from witnesses that the Wretched Egg is confined in the G-Block. He and Shiro proceed toward that section, prompting Makina to initiate a facility lockdown and deploy a hostile security robot. Ganta and Yoh guide Shiro through a secret passage to reach the G-Block. While Shiro engages the robot, it is destroyed by another inmate possessing powers identical to Ganta’s.
EP 4Ganta confronts Senji, who wields blood blades, before learning the truth about the Branch of Sin.
May 8, 2011Ganta attacks Senji Kiyomasa, mistaking him for the Red Man, but struggles against his blood-formed blades. After understanding the Branch of Sin, Ganta counters, realizing Senji is a deadman, not the Wretched Egg. Senji’s second attack fails against Shiro until a special unit tranquilizes Ganta and Senji, taking Shiro and Yoh away. During his examination, Ganta meets Tamaki, who admits to rigging Ganta’s verdict to send him to Deadman Wonderland. Tamaki reveals Ganta must fight Senji the next day, tempting him with a chance to face the Wretched Egg. Meanwhile, Ganta is tortured with footage of a carnival corpse, while Makina decides to confront the chief director regarding the mysteries of G-Block.

May 15, 2011Makina is stopped by Chan and En, bodyguards of the chief director, from entering his office. Ganta faces Senji in a carnival corpse match but struggles because his projectiles drain too much blood, causing anemia. Remembering Shiro helps him recover and strike Senji using the environment. Meanwhile, Shiro and Yoh travel toward G-Block after Yoh learns the location of a woman he seeks. Following his victory, Ganta is horrified to see Senji forced to lose an eye. Yoh uses Shiro as a distraction to escape, witnessing her true destructive power as she possesses the Branch of Sin.
EP 6Ganta faces Minatsuki Takami, a manipulative Deadman wielding a whip-like Branch of Sin in a deadly carnival match.
May 22, 2011While Shiro is carried away by Chan and En, Ganta encounters Minatsuki Takami, a Deadman who killed her abusive father. He initially offers assistance, only to discover she is his next opponent in the carnival corpse match. During the fight, Minatsuki reveals her true nature, having injured Ganta beforehand and attacking with her Branch of Sin. Yoh arrives, identifying Minatsuki as his sister and explaining his plan to earn cast points for her freedom. Despite Minatsuki’s attempts to turn Yoh against Ganta using resentment from the Red Hole incident, Yoh sides with Ganta. Ganta disables her weapon, frees Yoh, and defeats Minatsuki with a headbutt to win the match.
EP 7Ganta Recalls Shiro's Secret as Yoh Faces Undertakers and Scar Chain
May 29, 2011Following a strange quake, Ganta remembers Shiro, who is revealed to be the Wretched Egg. Yoh hides what he witnessed her do. While Yoh attempts to retrieve stolen casts, Tamaki informs him they cannot reduce sentences for G-Block inmates. Yoh is then attacked by Azuma Genkaku, a member of the anti-deadman force known as the Undertakers. Meanwhile, Ganta meets Nagi Kengamine and Karako Koshio from the Scar Chain group, who want to destroy Deadman Wonderland and invite him to join. During Minatsuki's penalty game, Nagi ensures she only loses her hair. Suddenly, Genkaku appears and attacks Ganta and the others.
EP 8Ganta joins Scar Chain to expose Deadman Wonderland while doubting his own memories.
Jun 5, 2011Shiro regains control via a lullaby, forcing Genkaku to retreat. Ganta meets Scar Chain members plotting to leak Deadman Wonderland secrets during inspection week. Makina also seeks hidden truths. Ganta distrusts the group after security footage contradicts his claim that Genkaku stopped his Branch of Sin, leading him to leave. He later learns from Senji that Genkaku killed Nagi's wife and hears each member's definition of freedom. Ganta promises Shiro a Ferris wheel ride upon escape and joins the group. It is revealed that Bundo Rokuro is a double agent for the Undertakers. The group begins leaking deadmen information. During the operation, Nagi and Rokuro enter the security room while Ganta and others flee an acid-spewing robot. Karako stays behind to ensure the others' safety.
EP 9Karako destroys a robot while Nagi sacrifices his arm to activate an elevator for Ganta's group.
Jun 12, 2011Karako recalls joining Scar Chain before defeating an acid-spewing robot, falling with it. Meanwhile, Nagi is betrayed by Rokuro and confronted by Undertaker Hibana Daida, who neutralizes his Branch of Sin. To activate the elevator Ganta's group needs, Nagi provokes Hibana by mentioning her abusive mother, allowing her to chop off his arm. Ganta's group faces Genkaku and his men, leaving only Ganta and a few survivors with the information chip. As Nagi bleeds to death, he calls the hideout, alerting Shiro. Shiro catches up to Ganta and throws the chip into a fire, ending the transmission.
EP 10Ganta confronts Shiro over the chip while Makina investigates Tamaki and Rokuro reveals a bomb plot.
Jun 19, 2011Ganta punches Shiro after she discards the data chip, declaring he never wants to see her again. Simultaneously, Makina eavesdrops on Tamaki and the defense secretary discussing the Deadmen. While Karako and the group plan their next move, Rokuro arrives and reveals the chip was a bomb he created. He declares the group is being held hostage unless Nagi agrees to become an Undertaker. As Rokuro prepares to execute Ganta first, Senji intervenes, fighting back against the Undertakers with sonic blasts. Meanwhile, Shiro reflects on her conflict with Ganta and encounters Toto Sakigami, the person who informed her about the bomb.
EP 11Ganta trains with Senji while Karako infiltrates Undertakers and Shiro is captured
Jun 26, 2011Disgusted by his own weakness, Ganta requests Senji instruct him on utilizing his Branch of Sin for combat. Concurrently, Karako tries to infiltrate the Undertakers by posing as a guard. During their training, Toto appears before Ganta and Senji, while Shiro, intoxicated by liquor sweets, encounters Genkaku, who also discovers Karako. Ganta successfully creates a blood bullet capable of breaking the sound barrier. Genkaku then announces the capture of Shiro and Karako. Despite having low blood levels, Ganta rushes to their location but is confronted by Nagi, who has been mentally broken by Genkaku and transformed into a raging demon.
EP 12Nagi's rampage forces Ganta to protect Shiro while Karako is stabbed and Hibana is killed by Toto.
Jul 3, 2011Nagi attacks guards while Ganta shields Shiro, enduring blows to reason with his friend. Nagi regains his senses due to Karako’s bell, but Genkaku stabs Karako and shoots Nagi, who holds Genkaku in place. Genkaku then kills other guards. Ganta suffers from candy withdrawal poisoning. Hibana attempts to flee but is killed by Toto, who gained Senji’s abilities by drinking his blood. Shiro enters Wretched Egg mode, causing the stone in Ganta’s chest to emit a powerful blast. Both Nagi and Genkaku are mortally wounded. Nagi gives Ganta his final candy before dying. Karako and others escape, while Ganta stays behind to protect his friends. Toto becomes fascinated with Ganta’s Branch of Sin. Shiro sings a lullaby to Ganta, who recalls hearing it before the Red Man attacked his classroom.
