Tsubasa Shiina transforms into a warrior after witnessing a spaceship crash in Hokkaido.
May 27, 2001Three months after relocating from Tokyo to Hokkaido with her father, Tsubasa Shiina finds it difficult to adapt to rural living. One evening, she observes a spacecraft crashing in the nearby forest and rushes to investigate. She discovers the unconscious pilot and an alien creature attempting to kill him. Tsubasa enters the vessel and touches a liquid substance that turns her into a teenage female humanoid warrior, allowing her to defeat the monster. Following the fight, the material detaches from her body and forms a clone of herself, who introduces herself as Hikaru.

D.D. Explains Maguar Eggs and Hikaru's Nature Before Second Hatching
Jun 24, 2001Following the previous incident, pilot D.D. reveals to Tsubasa that he is a galactic police officer transporting six stolen Maguar eggs. One egg hatched during transit, causing his ship to crash on Earth and scatter the remaining five across Hokkaido. D.D. also clarifies that Hikaru is a Ribers, a techno-organic battle armor that refused to return to dormancy after their last conflict. As D.D. and Hikaru prepare to leave Tsubasa, a second Maguar egg hatches and incapacitates the pilot. This forces Tsubasa and Hikaru to fuse into Figure 17 once more to defeat the creature. Meanwhile, Hideo witnesses Hikaru, prompting D.D. to brainwash him into believing that Tsubasa and Hikaru are twins.

Tsubasa Gains Confidence Before Port Ball Tournament While Twins Defeat Maguar
Jul 29, 2001During her first week at school, Tsubasa gradually builds self-esteem as the institution prepares for a port ball tournament. D.D. captures a newly hatched Maguar, but the creature escapes before analysis can occur. Cornered by the Maguar, the twins merge into Figure 17 to defeat it. D.D. urges Tsubasa to continue collaborating with Hikaru, noting that Figure 17 is the only entity on the planet capable of containing the Maguar threat. The following day, Tsubasa and Hikaru's team wins the tournament. Meanwhile, Orudina arrives on Earth to assist D.D. with his mission.

Aug 26, 2001During preparations for a class summer camp, D.D. updates Orudina on Figure 17 and the Maguar threat. Tsubasa grows closer to Sho, while Tokio shows affection for Hikaru. A fourth Maguar appears at night, but Orudina’s weapons fail to stop it. Due to an approaching typhoon, the class moves indoors, prompting Tsubasa and Hikaru to fly to the battle, upsetting Orudina. Figure 17 tears off the Maguar’s wing, causing it to crash before Orudina and D.D. destroy it. The following morning, newspaper journalist Isamu Kuroda arrives in Hokkaido to investigate forest damage caused by Maguar activity.

Ibaragi Family Struggles With Chore Division And Maguar Threat
Sep 30, 2001At the ranch, Kyoko develops a fever after arguing with her daughter Sakura, forcing the Ibaragi family to divide her duties. Tsubasa and Hikaru assist by herding cows for feeding and milking. Shinichi criticizes Sakura for neglecting her chores, leading to stress and a heated argument with her parents. While the family conflicts escalate, Tsubasa and Hikaru are summoned to the location of the fifth Maguar. However, D.D. and Orudina destroy the monster before the heroes arrive. Later, witnessing a cow give birth prompts Sakura to apologize to her parents and grandparents for her selfish behavior.

Oct 28, 2001Sho and Asuka win class official elections at the start of the new semester. D.D. and Orudina determine that Maguar eggs were genetically modified to adapt to environments, record combat data, and transmit it to other Maguars. The class plans a talent show play featuring Tsubasa and Hikaru in lead roles, though Tsubasa feels uneasy about the part. The sixth Maguar appears and resists Orudina’s new weapons, including a direct hit from her mothership. D.D. and Figure 17 fire multiple shots at the creature’s outer shell, forcing it to open so Figure 17 can deliver a final blow. Hikaru is wounded during the battle.

Nov 25, 2001Following the destruction of the sixth Maguar, D.D. informs Hikaru that she must depart with him and Orudina to their home planet, requiring the erasure of all town memories regarding her existence. Learning that Hikaru and Tsubasa are rehearsing a school play, D.D. requests a two-week postponement of their departure. During these rehearsals, Hikaru emotionally breaks down in class due to the play’s plot involving memory loss. After the class successfully performs the play, with Hideo recording the event, D.D. and Orudina uncover that a Maguar has laid multiple eggs across Hokkaido. Concurrently, Kuroda finds Maguar remnants in damaged grasslands and provides a sample to biologist Dr. Taki for analysis.

Dec 30, 2001Tsubasa and Hikaru show Asuka and Noriko around a ranch. That evening, D.D. and Orudina fight a Maguar with new weapons, though they suspect it is not the Mother Maguar. The next morning, the girls hike to Lake Hono and meet Sho at the train station. While the girls play frisbee, Sho, Kenta, and Shinji go fishing. Sho asks Tsubasa to join him at a hot air balloon festival. Meanwhile, a Maguar sample collected by Kuroda catches fire at Dr. Taki's lab. D.D. and Orudina face another Maguar that blocks their attacks, forcing Tsubasa and Hikaru to be summoned again for help.

Tsubasa’s feelings for Sho and the team’s battle against a new Maguar
Jan 27, 2002Figure 17 assists D.D. and Orudina in destroying the Maguar, prompting Orudina to acknowledge the necessity of Tsubasa and Hikaru’s support. Testing new weaponry takes a severe physical and mental toll on Tsubasa. She secretly accompanies Sho to a balloon festival, where they share a ride. Following the event, Tsubasa confesses her romantic feelings for Sho. Later, a Maguar appears, but Figure 17 employs the new Carion Blade to breach its shell, allowing D.D. and Orudina to eliminate the threat. Several days after these events, Miss Hibino informs the class that Sho has died.

Mar 31, 2002Kuroda travels to the Ibaragi ranch to investigate a meteorite crash from six months ago, but is repelled by a mental damper around D.D.'s ship. He then seeks clues at an electromagnetic research center. Meanwhile, Tsubasa and Hikaru receive a briefing from D.D. and Orudina regarding the Mother Maguar, which threatens to eliminate all life on Earth within three months if not destroyed. During school recess, Tsubasa intervenes in a fight between Kenta and Tokio. The twins confront a new, stronger Maguar that sprays corrosive acid. Although they help destroy the creature, Hikaru suffers from weakened condition due to its attacks. The following day, while the twins are out walking, Hikaru suddenly blacks out temporarily and requests that D.D. and Orudina examine her.

Hikaru's Pulse Stabilizes as Tsubasa Prepares for Presentation
Apr 28, 2002D.D. and Orudina find no abnormalities in Hikaru but install a pulse monitor in her right hand due to her unique permanent humanoid form. Hideo announces plans to open an Ibaragi bakery branch in Tokyo, requiring the Shiina family to leave Hokkaido in the spring. Tsubasa worries about Hikaru avoiding her and fears she will depart Earth with D.D. and Orudina after their mission. During class, Hikaru experiences another blackout and asks Tsubasa to handle their research presentation. As Tsubasa gains confidence, Hikaru's pulse rate stabilizes. Hikaru admits to Tsubasa that they must part ways once all Maguars are eliminated. Meanwhile, Kuroda arrives at an abandoned coal mine following a lead in his investigation.

Figure 17 and companions rescue Kuroda from Maguar hive before space reproduction
May 26, 2002Kuroda falls into a Maguar hive, prompting Figure 17, D.D., and Orudina to storm the mine and save him. The Mother Maguar launches itself and Figure 17 into space to reproduce elsewhere. D.D. blocks its trajectory with the mothership while Figure 17 separates, revealing an exhausted Hikaru. The Mother Maguar deposits eggs near the ship, forcing D.D. and Orudina to order Tsubasa to retrieve anti-Carion bombs. Figure 17 plants the explosives around the creature and escapes detonation. Tsubasa returns to Earth as Hikaru dies, her life force depleted. D.D. and Orudina erase all memories of Hikaru and the threat from the town, but Tsubasa chooses to retain hers. Before departing for Tokyo with Hideo, Tsubasa learns he and his wife originally debated naming her Tsubasa or Hikaru.
