Marika takes a break from captaining duties while the crew suffers isolation from a monkey-borne disease. She contacts Show of the Harry Llyod Insurance Union, who predicts a month-long absence. To prevent Bentenmaru's pirating license from revocation due to inactivity, Marika decides to recruit a temporary crew. Gruier accompanies her to a relay station where they meet Chiaki and her father, Kenjo Kurihara, captain of the Barbaroosa. Kenjo advises that trust is the most critical quality in a crew member, surpassing skill or strength. Following this guidance, Marika successfully recruits the space yacht club to assist with her pirating responsibilities during the crisis.
