Heavy snowfall prevents the group from finding food, prompting Kaoru to venture out near sunset. While pursuing a tobihane, he falls into a crevasse. Luna searches for him and successfully pulls him out, but the blizzard obscures their path back to the Star Hole. They take shelter in a snow cave for the night. During this time, Luna mentions that Sharla discovered an ID card belonging to Louis, a boy from Kaoru's pilot school, in his clothes. Louis died when Kaoru’s ship hull was breached in an asteroid field, causing Kaoru to blame himself for the tragedy. Luna comforts Kaoru by recalling her father’s final words, suggesting that Louis’s death was a message for Kaoru to continue living.
