The group reaches Aspertia City and plans to meet Cheren, a teacher at the local Pokémon School and the new Gym Leader. Cheren doubts his suitability for the role, a concern Cilan understands from his own past experience as a Gym Leader. While at the school’s Pokémon House, Cilan, Pansage, and a flock of Ducklett experience a series of mishaps. Following these events, Ash participates in an unofficial Gym match against Cheren. The battle features Ash’s Oshawott competing against Cheren’s Herdier in this initial encounter within the city.
