Outside, a mysterious witch dispatches two masked ninjas to capture Mr. Motou. She subsequently casts a spell that encloses the city in a force field composed of giant duel spirits. The ninjas, Frost and Thunder, kidnap Solomon and demand a duel from Syrus and Hassleberry to secure his release. The confrontation occurs atop a building where Kaiba and Yugi previously faced Lumis and Umbra. Despite their internal discord, the ninjas quickly gain the upper hand in the two-on-two match.

Hasslebery and Syrus previously gained an advantage against Frost and Thunder by combining their strongest monsters, but Frost used a trap card to counter their attack, eliminating their life points and Thunder's. Frost later meets Jaden and Aster, providing a clue to their friends' location: look for a higher altitude.
