One Outs

Hiromichi Kojima, a top batter for the fictional Lycaons in Japan's Pacific League, travels to Okinawa to recover from a slump. There, he encounters Tōa Tokuchi, a pitcher known for his 134-kmph fastball and dominance in a gambling baseball game called "One Out." Encouraged by Kojima, Tokuchi joins the Lycaons under a unique contract: he earns 5 million yen per out but risks losing 50 million yen for each run he allows.
