On the planet of the Knights of Kilimanjaro, chivalry persists as two nations engage in open warfare. Tetsuro witnesses a biplane dogfight and notices pilot Izaka slacking off. Unlike other pilots, Izaka lacks high lineage and simply desires to fly freely like a bird. However, his close friend Kikuo is killed by an enemy aircraft. While others celebrate the ceasefire, Izaka is consumed by rage, furious that his friend’s sacrifice is being ignored amidst the festivities.
