A town renowned for its hygiene standards becomes the setting for an unexpected crime when a conductor is assaulted by a mugger during his day off. Tetsuro and Maetel offer comfort to the victim following the incident. The news of the attack quickly reaches the Cleanliness Committee, who are deeply disturbed by the breach of order. Determined to maintain the town's pristine reputation, the committee attempts to erase all records of the event. They subsequently begin actively pursuing Tetsuro and his companions, forcing the group to evade capture while the authorities seek to suppress the truth about the disturbance.
