Ep. 43: Atsuyu fears flooding while Rokuta finds Genkai and Kouya kills prisoners

Construction on the river embankment leads Atsuyu to suspect the king intends to flood his town. A woman assists an ailing kirin in escaping. Meanwhile, Rokuta navigates tunnels beneath the castle and discovers a man imprisoned there. Although immortals cannot die from starvation, they suffer severe weakness and illness. Rokuta identifies this prisoner as Atsuyu's father, Genkai. In a separate event, the woman who aided the kirin is captured by Kouya. Kouya oversees the prisoners and, secretly from Atsuyu, executes most of them. Following an interrogation, Kouya permits his youma to consume the woman. This sequence of events highlights the hidden brutality within the castle and the deteriorating condition of Genkai while Atsuyu remains unaware of the mass executions and the fate of the woman who helped the mythical creature.
