Ep. 41: King En recounts Shouryuu's early reign struggles against Atsuyu's rebellion in Gen province.
Aired on July 26, 2003

King En narrates events from his initial years as ruler to Rakushun and Yoko. Shouryuu, twenty years into his reign, learns of a rebellion led by Atsuyu in Gen province, where Atsuyu seized power from his father. Despite Gen's prosperity, perceived royal neglect prompted Atsuyu to act urgently as flood season approached. The taiho Rokuta is captured to serve as a bargaining hostage. He is detained by a young man he knew years ago, who was raised by the youma Kouya. Rokuta shares his imprisonment with Lady Ribi, a minister appointed by Shouryuu to monitor the situation closely.
