Ep. 42: The Eastern Sea God and Western Vast Sea, Chapter Two
Aired on August 2, 2003

Atsuyu assumed power by allying with an incompetent predecessor. Shoryuu’s casual demeanor frustrates his cabinet and the taiho, who considers him an idiot. He mobilizes troops for Gen province while reinforcing river banks. Lady Ribi severs the magical thread binding the taiho, sacrificing herself to free him. However, her death triggers a reaction that makes the kirin ill, preventing Rokuta from leaving. This sequence highlights the political tensions within the court and the unintended consequences of Ribi’s desperate act to liberate the taiho from his magical constraints.
