Sep 28, 2003The battle between Zatch, Kiyo, Rops, and Apollo intensifies as Apollo anticipates Kiyo's strategies, causing temporary panic until Zatch refocuses him. Zatch questions Rops about his ideal kingship, prompting Apollo to recount how he met Rops in an inescapable country. Apollo received directions from local children, including Rops, but a gate blocked their exit. Rops used his magic to help Apollo cross, earning a scarf from the grateful kids. Apollo realizes Rops desires to be a king of freedom. The pair unleashes their strongest spell against Kiyo, who counters with Baou Zakeruga. The resulting explosion leaves Zatch and Kiyo exhausted and immobile. That evening, Apollo and Rops depart to continue their journey across the world.
EP 26Zatch loses his lunch and helps an elderly woman named Nana Baba find her son Tadashi and his fiancée Hiromi.
Oct 5, 2003Zatch skips school to play alone, assisting Ivy at a botanical garden before attempting to eat lunch on a scenic hilltop. He discovers he dropped his bento box while fleeing from Naomi. A giant elderly woman named Nana Baba sits beside him and shares her meal after learning he lost his food to a girl. In return, Zatch agrees to help Nana Baba locate her son, Tadashi, and his new fiancée, Hiromi. After visiting the police station, Zatch observes Nana Baba’s worn clothing, realizing she walked across three mountain ranges to see Hiromi without Tadashi’s knowledge. Using his sense of smell like he did with Kiyo, Zatch tracks Hiromi, who wears cheap jewelry and a short skirt. He spots a woman matching this description, along with a yellow tank top and pink hair, who boards a bus. Nana Baba chases the vehicle, and Zatch runs ahead, colliding with the bus at a red light. Upon waking, he sees Nana Baba speaking with Hiromi. Nana Baba gifts Hiromi a wedding ring from her late husband, and Hiromi accepts, calling Nana Baba mother. Zatch returns home, reflecting on his own mother, while Kiyo notes his lateness and slight growth.

Zoboron’s book glows, but Lupa and Purio use a smokescreen to escape. With the threat neutralized, the group finally enjoys their day off.

Shion walks home with Kiyo and Zatch, bonding with them despite Kiyo's hesitation. A man with a pinwheel arrives, claiming the mirror shard belongs to him. He summons his Mamodo, Cut N' Paste, to attack. Kiyo and Zatch fight back using spells like Zaker and Gigano Shizaruk. Kiyo uses Jikerdo to turn Cut N' Paste into a magnet, burning his spellbook. The pair watching from afar note Zatch's power and hint at their next plan. Shion asks to keep the mirror shard after the battle.

Dr. Hakase, Grisor’s partner, suggests reuniting the pieces at nearby ruins to restore it. Although Kiyo distrusts Grisor, they proceed to the location. Shion hopes this will let her stay with Nya. Hakase watches secretly, seeking revenge on the Academic Society. At the site, Grisor directs a dance ritual to distract the group while he and Shion assemble the Mirror. Once restored, Grisor steals it, revealing the ruins were fake and the dance a trick. Kiyo and the others chase him through the smoke.

Hakase then reveals that the mirror does not allow escape from the Mamodo King battle, admitting his previous words to Shion and Nya were lies. He uses the mirror to amplify Grisor’s spell book, transforming him into a giant creature. Grisor unleashes devastating flames, easily repelling Nya and Shion. She later returns it, revealing her father is a mafia boss who has captured her Mamodo, Wonrei, and asks Kiyo for help. The pair travels to Hong Kong, navigating through an island stronghold where her father's triad gang stores weapons and treasure. After defeating several guards, they take an elevator to the top of the island where Wonrei is held. Upon arrival, they encounter the Mamodo Zabas and his partner Galliont waiting for the elevator.
EP 38Zatch and Kiyo face Zabas while Li-en protects Wonrei in Hong Kong
Dec 28, 2003Li-en, Kiyo, and Zatch ascend an elevator to confront Wonrei, encountering Mamodo Zabas and Galliont. Zabas attacks with Garu Yuruk, but his Oru Wigar spell bypasses Zatch’s Rashirudo shield. Li-en attempts to save Wonrei, who rejects her care, yet she shields him from harm. Wonrei hands Li-en his book, instructing her to cast the fourth spell, Go Boren, which strikes Zabas. Wonrei joins the battle, using defensive techniques and Redoruk to counter Zabas’s attacks before defeating him with another Go Boren. Zabas mocks Wonrei for sparing his book, then attacks Zatch again. Kiyo casts the fifth spell, Zakeruga, which pierces Zabas’s armor and burns his book. Li-en and Wonrei escape by boat, while Kiyo and Zatch remain behind, giving gifts to their friends.
