Concerned by the situation, Kyoko decides to seek out Mitsukoshi personally to inform him about the potential demolition of the property he has just moved into.

Kyoko attempts to reach the absent Maison Ikkoku owner while tenants investigate rumors of the building's disappearance. When Kyoko confronts Mitsukoshi, he claims nostalgia for his childhood home, a story Godai doubts. Mitsukoshi vanishes overnight, leaving only a telegram from his former employer. Later, Mitaka reveals Mitsukoshi quit his job investigating properties for demolition after bonding with the tenants. Though saddened by his departure, Kyoko feels relieved that Maison Ikkoku remains safe from danger.

Kyoko Visits Soichiro's Grave Alone, Prompting Godai to Follow Her

On the fourth anniversary of Soichiro's death, the family gathers at his grave. Upon returning, Kyoko realizes she had been so preoccupied with her mother's nagging that she failed to think about Soichiro. A few days later, she decides to visit the grave by herself. Although Godai is present in the same town during this time, he fails to locate Kyoko despite his efforts to catch up with her.
