Prior to their arrival in Cyllage City, the traveling party visits the Sycamore Pokémon Lab. Team Rocket executes a plan to abduct Professor Sycamore, Serena, and Bonnie, aiming to extract information regarding the mysteries of Mega Evolution from the professor's mind. Meanwhile, Ash and Clemont are occupied with handling a hungry Chespin that has a strong preference for macarons. This diversion allows the villains to proceed with their scheme without immediate interference from the main protagonists.
