Yamato repeatedly fails to catch the baton during relay practice, prompting Miki to train him personally. Despite hours of effort, he continues to drop it because his thoughts are occupied by Suzuka. He eventually confesses that his poor performance stems from regret over lying to her. Miki offers to intervene, but Yamato refuses, insisting he must resolve the issue himself.
