Jan 9, 2010Dr. Thunderland Jr., head of the Bee Hive and Third Bioscience Division, is known as the Corpse Doctor for dissecting animals. Exhausted from firing shindans, Lag returns to the post office and reunites with Connor and Zazie. Thunderland identifies Steak as a rare Kapellmeister capable of symbiosis with spirit insects and kidnaps him for dissection. Lag and his friends pursue the doctor, cornering him at his lab. Zazie attacks Thunderland for using stray cats in experiments, but Lag opens the cage, revealing Thunderland’s flashbacks. He is actually a kind physician who creates cures from corpses and cared for the cats during a neighborhood disease. Later, Aria plays her violin in the lobby, using her Heart Restoration shindan to heal the staff. Thunderland tells Lag that Gauche Suede understood him and wishes him luck in finding the missing man.
EP 15Lag and Niche intervene as cowboys chase Moss and Bonnie over stolen spirit ambers.
Jan 16, 2010Moss and Bonnie converse with Lag during a carriage ride before being pursued by Frank’s gang. Bonnie claims Frank desired her, but she loves Moss. Niche defeats the gang, yet an ambush forces them from the vehicle. Frank demands stolen spirit ambers, revealing the couple as thieves. Bonnie asserts she sought funds to enter Akatsuki with Moss. Niche rescues them from execution. Lag confiscates the ambers, condemning their theft. His spirit amber reacts with Bonnie’s gun, exposing her betrayal and true lover in Akatsuki. Moss refrains from killing her. Bonnie attacks Lag but flees after Niche intervenes. Moss thanks Lag for the truth before departing heartbroken.

Later, Lag notices Belushi’s handwriting matches Joey’s. Belushi admits he wrote the letters because he and Joey are childhood friends, and Joey fell in love with Matilda at first sight. Belushi quits and leaves the city, sending a record to Matilda. Lag uses shindan on the record, revealing the truth. Belushi returns, and Matilda begs him to stay. He is assigned Darwin, a veteran guide and Elena’s Dingo, though this truth is initially concealed. During the journey to Bifrost, Darwin collapses and is left behind, but he recovers and insists on continuing after learning of Elena’s fate. At Dacquiose Cliff, Gaichuu Absinthe attacks, allowing Lag to witness Darwin’s heart, revealing he waited eternally for Elena, who died ten years ago. Lag follows Darwin to Silencio, where he finds Elena’s grave and her heart. The package contains matching pendants; Largo Lloyd, a former friend of Elena, had sought the pair for her. Lag returns the pendants to the chief, concluding the emotional delivery.

The Bees discover their pickup location is rarely visited, while the Pigeons face a Gaichuu attack that destroys their transport. Zazie eliminates the threat, allowing Rose to continue alone while Lag handles other Gaichuu. Lag defeats a second Gaichuu attacking Rose, witnessing her backstory as a friend of the orphanage who started the service to help those who cannot afford Letter Bees. Lag supports Rose to the finish line. Despite losing, Rose declares the Pigeons will continue delivering letters.
EP 19Niche loses a sick letter and rescues Sylvette from mud while caring for Lag
Feb 13, 2010Lag falls ill after a rainy delivery, prompting Niche and Sylvette to nurse him. Niche attempts to assist but worsens his condition, then loses the sick leave letter while delivering it to the Bee Hive. Thugs blackmail Niche for the letter until Sylvette intervenes. While buying medicine, Sylvette drags a distracted Niche, leading to a tantrum where Niche claims she is forced into unwanted tasks. After the medicine is sold out, Sylvette seeks herbs but her wheelchair sinks in mud. Steak retrieves Niche, who rescues Sylvette. Niche admits Sylvette is better suited to care for Lag, acknowledging Niche's concern. They return home to find Lag recovered from his fever thanks to Zazie's medicine, as he and Connor visit.

Lag volunteers to find the letters and tracks them to a Gaichuu Absynt, where they are tied to its horn. Lag’s attacks fail as the creature dispels them through an opening in its body. Steak retrieves the letters, but the group is endangered. Zazie arrives to fight but shows no concern for the delivery. Lag’s assault triggers flashbacks, revealing the Bee previously lost the letters while unable to defeat the creature with his shindan. The trio cooperates to destroy the Gaichuu. Thunderland seeks rare helenseed for her work, with Gauche delivering a bottle that affects Mana. When the Bioscience Advisory Panel votes to terminate her contract, Mana and Gauche present her request to continue. The chairman challenges them to complete her research within a week to prove the results, or she must leave.

Since Whitman resides at the southernmost end of Yuusari, the round trip requires 10 days, exceeding their one-week deadline. Gauche volunteers to deliver the request and Mana's notebook, enduring harsh conditions to reach the doctor. He collapses from exhaustion, but Whitman agrees to provide the recommendation. Gauche returns with the letter, allowing the panel to permit Mana to continue her research. She successfully completes the project and builds the lounge. Meanwhile, Thunderland shares news from Jiggy Pepper regarding Honey Waters, a town rumored to host anti-government activists. Gauche previously visited this location and met a man called 'one who is unable to become Spirit' before the man disappeared. Lag and Connor are dispatched to Honey Waters to uncover Gauche's findings. They encounter Hunt and Sarah, a couple who fled Akatsuki. Sarah alleges that Akatsuki experiments on artificial spirits, transforming her husband, and gains town support. She displays a black spirit amber, which Lag identifies as belonging to Gauche.

When Lag inquires about the amber's origin, Sarah feigns ignorance and directs the townspeople to attack his group. During the conflict, Hunt secretly rescues Lag, urging him to flee, while Connor, Niche, and Steak are captured after consuming paralytic waters. Lag meets Ann Grado, who aids his escape in exchange for delivering letters. Ann explains that individuals unable to become Spirit arrived five years ago, attracting followers. Lag discovers gaichuu are drawn to the hearts within these letters. Meanwhile, Sarah and Hunt identify Niche as a true one unable to become Spirit, with Sarah intending to offer her to the anti-government organization Reverse. Hunt reveals to Connor that he and Sarah are frauds. As Lag and Ann transport the letters underground, a Gaichuu named Cidre forces them to the surface. Connor, freed by his dingo Gus, arrives to assist. Although Connor knocks the gaichuu down, Lag is restrained by townspeople. Hunt clears the crowd, allowing Zazie and his dingo to repel the gaichuu.

Mar 20, 2010Zazie holds Lag hostage, prompting the three Bees to execute a plan where Connor and Zazie immobilize Gaichuu Cidre while Lag targets its weak point. Lag retrieves a bag of letters from underground, but Ann, Hunt, and Zazie are captured by Cidre, which attempts to consume their hearts and memories. During this assault, tragic flashbacks reveal Zazie’s parents died from a gaichuu, Ann’s father perished delivering mail outside town, and Hunt amputated his arms to become a circus exhibit to settle debts with Sarah. Lag returns to destroy Cidre, freeing the victims’ hearts. He then discovers Gauche’s memories released from the gaichuu and becomes overwhelmed with emotion.
EP 25Hunt and Sarah flee Honey Waters after townspeople attack, while Lag is shot by Gauche
Mar 27, 2010Hunt’s past reveals his departure from a circus due to his monster hands, leading him and Sarah to Honey Waters where they were rescued by Gauche and Roda. Gauche met the leader of the anti-government group Reverse, who offered him membership and information about Sylvette, but Gauche declined. In Honey Waters, locals feared Hunt until Sarah claimed they were the Ones Unable to Become Spirits responsible for killing gaichuu. When townspeople threw rocks at the couple, Lag defended them, causing Sarah to protect him instead. Hunt and Sarah departed for the Bee Hive in Connor’s carriage to seek Dr. Thunderland Jr.’s help. Meanwhile, Niche met Roda, and Lag encountered Gauche, who no longer remembered him. Gauche, now calling himself Noir, stole Lag’s letter and shot him with a shindanjuu. Wounded, Lag watched tearfully as they left before falling unconscious.
