She recruits Souta Takanashi, a classmate who accepts the position and adapts quickly to the workplace environment. Souta encounters various employee quirks but offends manager Kyouko Shirafuji with a remark about her age, resulting in her assigning him excessive work duties. During a shift, he meets Mahiru Inami, a female coworker he has not previously encountered. Mahiru suffers from a severe fear of men and immediately punches Souta in the face upon their first interaction, marking the beginning of his challenging employment experience at the restaurant.

Yamada informs Yachiyo that Satou loves her, leading to a failed confession and rejection. May 30, 2010Inami attempts to conceal receiving a White Day gift from a boy by claiming it came from a girl. When her father visits Wagnaria to verify the story, Inami persuades a reluctant Souta to cross-dress as Kotori to deceive him. After colleagues convince him to participate, Souta assumes the identity of Kotori. Upon meeting Inami's father, Souta discovers the man spent ten years indoctrinating Inami with media to fear men and added weights to her bag to strengthen her muscles. Souta angrily confronts the father about his parenting, urging him to apologize and leave. Witnessing this defense, Inami realizes she is in love with Souta.

Inami and Yamada keep Kozue company while Souta does chores. Kozue hears from Yamada that Inami likes Souta. She is later disappointed to find them just playing cards together.

Meanwhile, Maya Matsumoto at Wagnaria worries that the eccentric behavior of her colleagues is affecting her own normalcy. When rain begins to fall, Souta compares Inami to a dog. His attempt to correct himself results in calling her a "cute, vicious dog," leaving Inami focused on the compliment. The following day, everyone returns to work, and life at the restaurant resumes its usual routine without further incident.
