A 13-year-old junior high student moves from Osaka to Tokyo to live with her father, a cameraman who recently returned from Peru, and her younger brother, who constantly follows her. The girl, who is passionate about volleyball and aspires to join Japan's national team for the 1988 Seoul Olympics, joins her school's team and quickly rises in skill. Her coach is known for his harsh methods, including physically punishing players who fail to meet his standards.
