A flashback reveals Tenzen speaking with young Ogen following the Kouga attack. Gennosuke understands the truce cancellation means the conflict persists until a victor emerges. Saemon, disguised as Tenzen, infiltrates the Kouga compound and deceives Akeginu by claiming Kagerou is on a nearby bridge. He takes Kagerou under the pretense of killing her. The real Tenzen arrives at the compound while Akeginu viciously attacks Kagerou. Saemon restrains Akeginu at the last moment, allowing Kagerou to kill her. Shortly after, Ofuku's retainers confront Saemon, who remains disguised as Tenzen on the bridge.
