Meanwhile, Hotarubi, Mino Neki, Yashamaru, and Rousai ambush Shougen, who traps them with sticky phlegm. Nenki subdues her with his body hair and bo staff, but Tenzen chooses to take her hostage instead of killing her. Hyouma fears the truce has ended due to Gennosuke’s raid and orders Gyoubu and Saemon to investigate. Meanwhile, Yashamaru returns from Sunpu, worried about the Kouga’s actions. Kisaragi Saemon impersonates Tenzen to learn about the truce’s end and the ten names scrolls. When Saemon reveals his true identity, Yashamaru attacks him but is choked by Gyoubu hiding in a wall. His death is witnessed by a butterfly from Hotarubi. Tenzen brings Okoi back to Iga Tsubagakure while Saemon, wearing Yashamaru’s face, prepares to infiltrate the Iga. Gennosuke and Oboro remain unaware of these events.

In the salt store, Okoi drains Jingorou’s blood, allowing him to revert to a semi-liquid state and escape. When Nenki seeks Rousai, Okoi attempts to drain his blood, but his hairy body prevents skin contact; instead, he pierces her with his hair. Hotarubi and Saemon, disguised as Yashamaru, enter to find Nenki and the dying Okoi. With her last breath, Okoi informs her brother that she killed Rousai and reveals a hidden scroll. Saemon retrieves the scroll just as Oboro arrives, her mystic eyes unconsciously exposing him and forcing a life-or-death struggle. Gyoubu creates a distraction, enabling Saemon’s escape before seizing the scroll himself. Meanwhile, Koshirou curses his fate and blindness, almost killing Akeginu when she comes to comfort him. Along the trail, as she struggles to return, Hotarubi thinks of happier times spent with Yashamaru when they were younger. Arriving at a broken suspension bridge, Hotarubi turns to see Nenki who claims to have killed Gennosuke and the Kouga.

Akeginu fails to rescue him. As Gyoubu observes his victory, he senses that something is wrong with the situation.

Meanwhile, Koshirou, abandoned by Tenzen, wanders through the night before eventually rejoining Gennosuke, Kagerou, and Hyouma.

Hattori Kyohachiro, monitoring the succession dispute, apologizes to Oboro for the resulting slaughter, and she requests he keep Gennosuke's flute. Ofuku attempts to avoid involvement but remains under suspicion. Oboro declares her love for Gennosuke before turning her sword on herself to die. Gennosuke accepts the scroll, awarding victory to Oboro and the Iga, then carries her body into the river and ends his own life.
